What is the most special thing in Windsor, New York?
I was born and raised in Windsor, New York for the first 11 years of my life. I am now 50.
My parents were born and raised there also, so our roots in
Windsor go way back. I have soooo many fond
memories of growing up in the country town of Windsor, New York. Playing in the fields, the creeks, the
apple
trees, flying saucers, sleds, pussy willows, slamanders, arrow heads, the bullhead pond, milk week pods,
watching crysalis' turn to monarch
butterflies, wild violets and strawberries, rasberry bushes, cardinals, cedar
wax wings, deer, maple trees, fossils, the swim hole, skating on my aunts pond
and down the frozen creek
in front of Murdock's Trailer Court, childhood friends, bus rides to school and getting stuck in the snow, my
first readers; Tip,
Tip and Mittens, Windsor Central School and then C.R.Weeks School, Mr. Ryder and his
guinea pig Morty Meacle, my aunts working in the school
cafeterias, Mr. Spicer, the concerts at the Village
Green, Melody Dinette, Vint's Department Store, The Community House, English's Pharmacy, swim
lessons
at the town pool, Johnny Gray...........the list could go on forever.
When I last visited Windsor it had changed, but the great memories I have of
living there 50 years ago will
