How it got its name, perhaps. I have learned that this little town was named after a gentleman who may be my great grandfather. It appears that many of the field workers of that area in the early years, 1920's or 30's ... were given vouchers to exchange for goods at the market owned my Mr. Chase as I have been told. Soon after these workers were given vouchers with which they exchanged for cash. Inside the store Mr. Chase formed sort of a cash drawer or bank to carry out the transactions. Sometime thereafter he hired my great granny to clean up on Fridays after the store was closed. I do believe that is where my grandfather came from hence me. This is what I was told when my uncle, who has since passed on started to reveal our history. He was actually born in Chase, Louisiana - Ricky A. Diggs
