Property Description
Today, The White House is often called the most photographed historic home in New England, evidencing that it still holds all the grandeur that was intended 165 years ago. Stepping into an era of understated elegance and privacy, The White House as registered on the National Register of Historic Places with sweeping views of the triangular shaped park-like grounds, botanical gardens and historic gazebo instill a sence of peace and tranquillity. Upon entering the Inn you experience the understaded elegance and privacy reminiscent of that century and a half ago bygone era. Stunning interior architectural details abound. Admire the craftsmanship of the marble fireplaces, classic flying staircase, intricate thick plaster medallions, cornices, antique and reproduction furnishings. Area attraction and day trips could be to explore beautiful Penobscot Bay from the land, water or air. Shop at wonderful antique shops, authentic country stores and specialty shops.
