  • Directions
With over 720 bridges within the city limits crossing two rivers, Pittsburgh is one of the largest inland ports in the US. Its diverse blend of ethnic communities offers the best in dining, entertainment and shopping. "'Burghers" love sports, working hard and playing hard in the "Most Livable City." Situated on nearly eight acres adjacent to The Westin Convention Center, Pittsburgh, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center is a 1.5 million square-foot, natural light-filled facility featuring the most advanced technology and offering the highest standards for comfort and service. Four floors house 53 meeting rooms and a 31,610 square-foot ballroom as well as providing 313,400 square feet of exhibit space. The convention center is the first and largest certified "green" convention center in the world and is the only meeting venue to be Gold LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Pittsburgh boasts three professional sports teams the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates and as many arenas. Heinz Field, home to the Steelers as well as the University of Pittsburgh's football team; PNC Park baseball stadium, the Pirates' home base; and the Consol Energy Center, the Penguins' new home for the 2010-2011 NHL season, are comfortable modern facilities all within walking distance of the hotel. Bountiful shopping possibilities are nearby. Five minutes on foot will take you to downtown's premium department stores, including Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue and many boutique shops. For distinctive local flavor, Pittsburgh's historic Strip District, named for its narrow confines between the Allegheny River and Grant's Hill, is just one mile from the hotel. Great cultural offerings found here include the Pittsburgh Opera, the famous Saturday Farmers Market, plus intriguing ethnic and specialty shopping and tempting local cuisine.
