Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there are 3,651 people, 891 households, and 734 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 233.8/km sq. (605.9/mi sq.). There are 1,020 housing units at an average density of 65.3/km sq. (169.3/mi sq.). The racial makeup of the CDP is 16.82% White, 0.77% African American, 0.36% Native American, 5.72% Asian, 37.44% Pacific Islander, 0.96% from other races, and 37.93% from two or more races. 9.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 891 households out of which 45.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.6% are married couples living together, 14.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.6% are non-families. 11.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.10 and the average family size is 4.46.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 36.6% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 6.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $38,190, and the median income for a family is $42,813. Males have a median income of $33,125 versus $24,630 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $12,684. 19.0% of the population and 15.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 24.0% of those under the age of 18 and 12.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
