Captain Cook is located at 19°29'54" North, 155°54'15" West (19.498211, -155.904275)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 31.5 km sq. (12.2 mi sq.). 31.5 km sq. (12.2 mi sq.) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there are 3,206 people, 1,152 households, and 822 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 101.8/km sq. (263.6/mi sq.). There are 1,223 housing units at an average density of 38.8/km sq. (100.6/mi sq.). The racial makeup of the CDP is 33.44% White, 0.22% African American, 0.19% Native American, 31.63% Asian, 7.86% Pacific Islander, 1.09% from other races, and 25.58% from two or more races. 8.05% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,152 households out of which 30.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.5% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% are non-families. 21.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.24.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 22.6% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 103.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.2 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $47,644, and the median income for a family is $60,179. Males have a median income of $36,250 versus $27,155 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $21,237. 8.5% of the population and 5.4% of families are below the poverty line.
