FEDHAVEN - THE FIRST 10 YEARS I used to fish a lot in the lake surrounding Fedhaven and got to meet several of the older residents who asked me to capture the history of Fedhaven since they felt the binders that contained newspaper accounts of the day to day happenings would at some point be lost. Such a remarkable group of middle America. I had 50 copies printed and distributed them to family members and to the libraries at Fedhaven and Nalcrest. Unfortunately someone took the books out of the libraries, but since I Received so many nice notes of appreciation from mainly grandchildren I would like to share this with you. It would be nice to hear from any who might venture back into the first 10years. gatkkey@gmail.com and 3 Frigate dr Salem S.C 29676 Cheers, George PREFACE There was a library in Fedhaven and on one of the shelves against a back wall were several 3-1/2" black binders, labeled in ink "Fedhaven History 19--". There were also picture albums with pictures of the residents and their friends taking part in their many activities. I pulled the black binder for the years 1965-1970 and sat down at one of the tables to read the newspaper accounts written by the Fedhaven correspondents who chronicled the ac¬tivities. It did not take long to realize that this was a blend of people, from all over our country, which represented Middle America. They were steeped in strong moral values and disci¬plined by two world wars and the Great Depression. They may not have been the engines of our country, but they certainly were the moral rudders.
