When I was six I lived in El Toro, California. I rode a school bus from our shack we lived in. The ride was long, it seemed, and there was nothing but open land. I watched as a large metel World was put right in the middle of all this land. I remember wondering what in the world was going on. Many years later I went back to find out it's called Leasure World. Our school had all grades up to the 12th. Our shack was not far from the old train track store, where it was the only store I remember being close. My uncle got married in that old church that was saved. I remember those days. My mom has the pictures. In the days my uncle's wife's family were the main people that resided there. My mom still has the pictures that were taken in front of our shack and outhouse. That's where my Uncle Alix Lopez took us to hide from my dad. I'll never forget the bus rides and the old wooden store at the train tracks. My mom gave me, my sister and brother our last cents to buy something we could all enjoy! We bought a pie, and stupid me was running home to make my mom happy seeing what we bought when I tripped and fell. The pie was all over my clothes. My mom was so mad that I had to stay outside. My brother and sister laughed cause I insisted to be the one to carry the blueberry pie home. When I lived in El Toro nothing was there. When I went back to work at Burroughs, it had turned into a new city. That was in the early 80's. The space where our shack was was still there. - Dolores ( Bibi) Moreno
