My family lived in McNary. I started school there and went through the 3rd grade before we moved back to Mississippi. My father worked at the sawmill filing the huge circle saws that were used to cut the trees into lumber. He also worked as a projectionist at the McNary theater. I have many happy memories about living in McNary. I had a special school friend that everyone called "Peaches". My sister was born there in 1948 and is planning a return to her birthplace this year! Great place for us in the 1940s and 50s!! - Delores Blakeney Stingley

Named after McNary, Louisiana. In 1919 the company that owned a large sawmill in McNary, Louisiana shut down the mill. They loaded all the machinery up and shipped it to Arizona. They set up the sawmill there and named the place McNary, Arizona. - B. Duplissey
McNary, Arizona was named after McNary a Mill owner, who moved from Louisiana. My grandfather and uncles worked in the old McNary, Arizona mill. My grandfather, James E.
